Dexy’s been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis 😞

Poor Dexy has just been diagnosed with osteoarthritis….Apparently, his hips aren’t too bad….It’s in his knees. He doesn’t like bending his legs…or taking his body weigh in his knees .

This explains why he has been getting a urine soaked belly recently

Best shampoo for regular use ?

He’ll be on long term Metacam now .

I want to start him on Vegan Glucosamine…but am at a bit of a loss on which brand to buy .

All the liquid ones have fruit flavours and the pills have fillers in them .

Has anyone got any ideas on a good brand ? Has anyone been advised on a product by their vet ?

Sorry Dexy has arthritis, I hope you are able to get the right stuff to keep him comfortable.

thank you everyone - I'm afraid mos of the brands linked in previous threads are currently out of srock

I'm gong to try the Oxbow Joint support tablets ( bet he doesn't eat them ).

So .. if anyone else has any recommendations , please let me know

PURECOSAMINE POWDER 200G - VEGAN GLUCOSAMINE

Powder like you would get in Cystease capsules, but vegan unlike those, according to the blurb.

Update: Dexy's like a new man now he has started on regular Metacam

He's the first guinea pig I've had who doesn't like Metacam so I have to catch him and put him on my lap to give it to him .... or maybe he just likes the cuddles .

Gabapentin has really helped Tootie. Before starting it she was dragging her back legs and her spine is very stiff. She’s now dashing around the cage again.
