Some of you have seen my posts about the guinea pig browser game i'm developing.
Long story short, I've done a lot of the coding, Id like to start working on the breed art. the art will be a major part of the game, for cute visuals reasons.

I have been drawing guinea pigs since *counts* like 2008, but I don't normally draw super cute posed smushy faced piggies, for the game i'm developing I don't want boring art of a pig just standing there in the cage, I want CUTE. and we all know guinea pigs naturally are just about the cutest darned things alive.

So, I need pictures to reference for anatomy reasons. id list what breeds I need but I need just about all of them, there will even be mix breeds in the game, so i'm not too concerned about the breed, color doesn't matter either. and if I like your pig in a certain pose, I can change the breed, so I won't be drawing your guinea pig, but I will be looking at the pictures so I can get the anatomy right.
If you're comfortable with this, post away!
just in case you'd like more, context/specifics. I want to see the face (nose/mouth) and at least one visible eye and ear (ear can be poking out under hair) and id like to see enough of the body to be able to properly show off color and markings, those type of pictures will be the most useful, but really anything I can look at helps :)

Really anything you think is a cute picture I can work with it, even if it isn't for the main breed art, there is plenty of art I have to do.

So for those of you who haven't seen, I'm not trying to be repetitive, just making sure everyone knows the context before I ask this, I'm developing a guinea pig browser game, where you can own virtual piggies, feed them, play with them, etc...

What are your thoughts on dressing (virtual) guinea pigs?

I'm leaning towards not adding it to the game, I don't agree with dressing real life piggies and I'm trying to go for a lot of realism in this game, on the flip side there will be fantasy guinea pigs with wings, horns, or some crazy color like purple or even rainbow. So, it makes it seem like dressing the normal pigs should be okay.

What are your thoughts? Would you like to be able to dress your guinea pigs, if so, would you want them to be able to have clothes on their body (like a jacket or a skirt) or just accessories like hats, glasses, bows, flowers etc...?
If you think you shouldn't be able to dress the virtual guinea pigs, I would love to hear why.

I hate seeing pictures of guinea pigs with accessories on - or any animal come to that! I think it gives people the wrong idea of what their pet is - it’s not human, therefore it doesn’t dress like a human. Skinny pigs may need a jumper to keep them snuggly in colder months but the rest have fur to keep them warm. You only have to look at dogs these days to see that some are treated more like children and dressed like them too, with woolly jumpers, shoes and coats. Granted some dogs need a coat but it’s all so over the top! Rant over!

No to the clothing. It sends court the wrong message. Even skinny pigs should not be dressed in jumpers, etc. as it can cause skin problems and affects their ability to regulate their temperature.

Piggies are not dolls, so definitely no, I agree it gives the wrong impression

Couldn't you accessorise with things piggies would use in real life, like a nice fleecy tunnel or cuddle couch, or a fancy wooden hidey house? Or a woven grass hut or tube?

There will be plenty of those types of things to add to the cage. :)

I'm glad everyone seems to have the same thoughts I did on this

Heres my first draft of the adult American breed art. I say draft because I tried out a new shading technique and I'm not sure I'll keep it or not.
I specialize in drawing long hair guinea pigs, so sorry if my short hairs arent the best. Screenshot_20190222-171448_SketchBook for Galaxy.webp

Lilith 'begs'; is this the sort of thing your after?

These photos are from Winter 2015/2016 not long after we adopted her.

Even now at the grand age of around 5 1/2 and living with gradual kidney failure she still welcomes me to the shed at teatime with a 'beg' at the bars of the run.
