Hi there!

I've had my piggy Latte for 2 weeks now and have been handling him often every day.

I usually bring him to bed whenever I feed him his veggies and for the first week and a half he would usually be fairly still and I'd let him hide and run around under the blankets, but now he'll eat most (not all) of his veggies and then immediately try running and jumping off the bed, scratching me in the process.

I live in a small flat so I leave his cage open at all times so he's free to roam around and get all the floor time he wants and I'll be getting him a piggy friend soon.

Is there any reason why he suddenly seems to dislike me/refuses to bond anymore? He's 3 months old and I'm beginning to think he'll hate me forever :(

Thanks!

He is beginning the hormonal teenage phase. There isn't anything to worry about, but it might be a little rough for the next year or so. When you get him a friend, make sure to get one that's at least two years old, just so you don't have two boars going through the teenage phase at the same time. You are doing wonderful! Don't lose hope, all piggies get a little odd during teenagehood!

When they’re really young and new they’re frozen in fear, that’s why they stay so still rather than wanting to. Now he’s becoming more confident and is letting you know he doesn’t want to play anymore.

Please have a look through all the helpful sticky threads for bonding, they will really help. Just be aware it’s all about time and patience bonding with pigs, one of mine has taken almost 3 years... :))
