Hello

I’m planning to build an outdoor cage for 3 guinea pigs from wood with a sloping felt roof and just wondered if you could give me some tips.

The cage will be 5ft x 2ft, but have 2 levels, so the floor space will be doubled up. There will be a ramp running from the downstairs to upstairs.

Does anyone know how steep the ramp needs to be since piggies are not good climbers? Do you think they would manage a 45 degree climb? :-) I think it might have to be more shallow than that?

Also how high would you make each level, I was thinking of maybe 12-14 inches?

Finally how much floor space in the nest box/bedroom would you recommend for 3 pigs?

Thanks for your advice

A 45 degree angle for ramps is what most commercial cages and hutches have, but many pigs are put-off by these. A shallower incline would certainly be a better option :)
As the nest box is where they will spend a lot of their time together it would be nice to make this with plenty of space but I think I would prefer to let others advise you on that :)
The height for each level sounds good :)
