My Guinea pig Pebbles had his molars trimmed down three years ago and he has been perfectly healthy every since , but this week I noticed he was struggling to chew similar to how he acted prior to the surgery. I’m very confused as to why this is happening again, I have three other guinea pigs who all eat the same foods as Pebbles and have never experienced any dental issues. What am I doing wrong?

You’re not doing anything wrong, many members of this forum have had dental piggies and they are the most wonderful owners. I’ve had a dental pig and I would like to think my boy had been cared for correctly.

It is an interesting thought, as the teeth grow constantly so what now has caused another upset. Perhaps you could ask your vet more about that?

I hope pebbles trimming goes well and he has many more happy days, chomping away!

:agr: You are not doing anything wrong.
Their teeth grow constantly and sometimes something can go wrong and causes issues.

Switch to daily weight checks so you can monitor hay intake more closely and step in with support feeding while you get a vet appointment

I hope he is ok
