I've been taking my little ones regularly to visit the amazing Kim & Simon in Northampton. I'm now moving further away from them (Tunbridge Wells) which would entail a 5hr round trip (stressful for the pigs) & I wondered if anyone could recommend any other pig dental experts in this area? I see that a vet in Matlock, Derby actually visited Kim & Simon & now performs the same conscious treatment - does anyone else? Thanks in advance.

I don’t think there are any other experienced dental piggy vets I’m afraid. I would take the risk and drive up there. Some travel from as far as Cornwall.

Welcome and we’d love to see photos of your piggies.
PS I'm near Sevenoaks. There’s Putlands in paddock wood and Anderson in Bromley if you’re looking for a new vet.

I would keep going to see Simon and Kim if you can, I have tried local vets and they are a disaster when it comes to guinea pig dentals. I been going to Simon For the last two years with my boy Ted.

@furryfriends (TEAS) @Siikibam Just wanted to post my gratitude to Debbie for the care you have given our Dash in recent weeks. Fingers-crossed she continues to progress well (she has put on over 100g between her last appointment yesterday, and the previous appointment 3 weeks ago). I'm based near Sevenoaks also, so whilst writing, just wonder whether a vet has been found in the South East, who are able to treat dental patients in the same way that Simon & Kim have mastered so superbly? If not, maybe we could arrange some training sessions for those interested!?

I don’t know any down this end I’m afraid. I’m glad your girly is doing well. Long May it continue.

if you know of a vet who is interested in learning more about concious dentals, they would need to contact the Cat and Rabbit Clinic direct. I know Kim Maddocks arranged this with my vet . They can teach their skills - but Kim and Simon will always be the most experienced,

Also. I can't imagine any teaching will be possible until the pandemic is well and truly over.

Hi
I'm Kent based and travel to Northampton to see Kim and Simon. One of my piggies had a terrible time with a Kent based exotics vet carrying out dentals and I would never, ever want another piggy to go through that.
I would love to set up a training programme for all vets as there are so few who seem to be great with guinea pigs but I guess it also depends where the vets' interests lie as well as who they are run/owned by.

Hi,only just read your post.So sorry to hear but dental issues are such a problem with most vets.Have to tried Anne O'Meara at Ewell vets, Surrey? She is wonderful with guinea pigs and has been trained in conscious dental work with gps.Worth a try.

Thanks so much for everybody's responses. Unfortunately, Dash passed away today, after a very rapid decline; her dentals were being treated just fine evidently, but maybe the stress of it all became a bit too much. On the hunt now for a rescue centre, as her companion, Monty, is now flying solo. Thanks again, and if @furryfriends (TEAS) and Simon & Kim are reading this, we're so grateful for your care.

Oh just seen this sad news, so sorry you have lost Dash
Sleep tight little lady 🌈

@SimonA I'm so sorry to read your sad news 🌈 :hug:East Peckham GPR are near to TW and may be worth contacting if you are looking for a companion.
