My colleague has just informed me she won't let me cover her position when she's away any more - because I took Thursday off when Scarby went in for his operation, when he died.

I went in two evenings that week to make sure I caught up with what I might have missed. I cleared all the answerphone messages, did all the emails, letters etc even on Thurs evening when I had just lost my darling. Never asked for overtime.

Charming.

I suppose she thinks it was no big deal that your guinea pig had an operation and died! I hate people like that! I know not everyone is as passionate about animals as we are but even so a bit of compassion is all you are asking for. After all, you still made sure your work was all up to date.

It makes me so angry to hear you have been treated like that!

I am so sorry! xx

And she said I had ruined her whole easter because of this.

A sense of proportion please ::)

for gods sake....you had just lost a member of your family. I guess you can't expect someone who so clearly doesn't have much of a brain, or a life, to understand though!

Stupid woman!

Oh well she doesn't realise what love she is missing out on if she doesn't have anything special in her life to love.

Agreed. It's not a quality to admire in someone, is it? Can't wait to hand in my notice ;D

I bet you can't! I would be counting down the days if I was you.

Years ago I had a sick bunny and phoned work to tell them I wouldn't be going to the bank with the takings as I had to get my rabbit to the vets. My boss told me I should get my priorities right and remember who paid my wages. I told him where he could stick his job! I sat in the waiting room at the vets thinking oh hell I have probably just lost my job. However when he phoned me back it wasn't to sack me, it was to apologise! I think he realised that my animals were going to come first every time so he may as well accept it. :)

Some people really are just mean... what goes around comes around Lucinda so if you do hand in your notice she will probably end up working with someone who is meaner than her!

I'm lucky at the moment... my manager is a miserable git but he's an animal lover and I was allowed to leave work when my mum lost the rabbit at the back of the shed!

That is despicable. Esp as you made up the time.

Poor poor you

Stupid bint.

I feel very hurt really. Basically she is saying she doesn't trust me to run the dept when she's not there to supervise. I have been in thie job for nearly four years, and have never done anything like this before. The day I lost Dr I was at work, and the following day too. When Scarby had his other two ops I was at work the one time (and she wouldn't let me go early although I was in tears) and the second time I was off anyway, but went in the next day leaving Scarby at home.

I'm not surprised you feel hurt. I would be too! Sadly not everyone is as caring, lovely and kind as you. However at least you know now that she isn't the sort of person you want to bother with!

I know which sort of person I would rather be with! :)

Ah... I read that on another thread. Congratulations! Cornwall's a lovely part of the country but I guess you probably knew that already!

I'm so sorry to hear about the treatment you have had there.

When my Billie died my boss sent me home from the office as I was so upset.
He let me work from home the following day (Thurs) and take an emergency days holiday the day after that (Friday) on the understanding that I would get my head together over the weekend.

He is not an animal lover but he cares about me and my ability to do the job.

I guess I'm lucky

:tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: want me to come over and bop her on the nose? Makes me cross when people act like this >:(
So glad you have the new position love you'll be happy there, no more crap from the hospital twerps :P
We loves you and totally understand, gosh i'm a boss and i let my guys go home for their animal problems what ever they are O0
My blood is boiling, oooooo not happy >:(

I don't get people like that...if a member of their family was ill and they had to take time off work to take them to the hospital or whatever they could, why are animals any different?! Our animals are part of our familys, so I don't see how it's any different.

Good luck in the new job O0 :smitten:

hope she can live with her conscience evil with just make sure your resignation is a good one and enjoy every minute of it

I suppose it's a little bit of ignorance... non animal lovers that I have met just can't understand or fathom why we all care so much! It happens in workplaces between people who have kids and those that don't. They somehow seem that it's unfair that they get time off work if there is a problem. It' so silly really because I bet all pet owners and parents would rather be at work than have someone/something they love being ill!

yey your gonna live near me lol ;D congrats on your new job! and that other woman sounds like a.....witch!

She sounds horrible - big (((hug))) to you Lucinda, and I'm glad that you are soon leaving to do your training in Cornwall.

What a horrible mean nasty dog lady! >:(

i curse her to 4 years of hell at work.

Thanks for all your support. :)

I have been thinking about this and I think I will speak to my manager tomorrow. She is the one who should decide if or when I "act up" for the other one.

I didn't want to do anything yesterday because I was so angry I knew I needed time to think. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have just been on my hotmail and found an email from her apologising for her behaviour.

Don't know what to do now.

She apologised to me today as well and said I should be paid more for covering her position.

Has been very nice to me today.

Has she really apologised or has she just done enough ?

If she's really apologised then that's good :)
If not i'm a coming over and gonna.... oh geez i can't get there.... ..... >:( >:( >:( >:(
You know how much i want to come over to see you and the rest of the 'forum' beautiful people :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
