Dementia

Has anyone had any experience of dementia in guinea pigs? My two girls are getting on now and I often see what can only be compared to the feeling you get (well me anyway) when you go into a room and wonder what you went in there for!
They'll worry me sometimes when I put down a special treat for them and then they ignore it until I 'remind' them it's there.
I expect their sight is not so good now but does their sense of smell deteriorate with age?

It was the same with Pauline: When I reminded her that something was there and I held it in front of her face, she would eat it happily!
However, with Pauline, I was never sure if she had not noticed the treat before, or if she was not hungry and then ate it just to do me a favour! You know what she was like! :laluot_11:
