Meet Dean.
I only brought him home today but he seems to have settled in well!
Made the mistake of calling in P@H looking for Christmas presents for my cats and walked past this little guy in the adoption centre.
The information said he'd been handed in as he was unfriendly and didn't get on with others.
He didn't look old enough to have been stamped with grumpy unsociable boar syndrome (apparently he's 4 months) so I asked for a cuddle... big mistake! After burying himself in my scarf he turned and gave me a kiss... melted right there!
The information they had on his file said that he was a biter and the children wouldn't go near him. Yes he's a bit nibbly as my fingers can vouch but he's the sweetest little boy, full of character and so confident. He's been in the run and already been popcorning so with a little patience and some tutoring from uncles Fred and George (he's in my spare room where he can chat to them while he's in quarantine) hopefully he'll settle into our family (he's eating poop in my sleeve right now!)

Welcome little Dean!
I adopted a ‘biter’ once too and she was the sweetest of pigs!
Just obviously mishandled.
Hope he continues to settle in! Certainly looks vicious - savaging your neck there!

I do think I'm missing a few hairs now!

Oh my good gracious god, he is such a sweetheart! x

Isn't he just? He's so chilled out- though he's not quite sure what to do with cucumber yet!

Aw he is lovely. I've had a 'biter too' and like Janice she turned out to be very well behaved.
Spike used to nip when we first had him. I used these tips and he is much better - just have to be careful not to push him for too long when cutting his nails." Biting" And What You Can Do

One of my other boars came from a similar situation to Dean's where a particularly grabby child had gone for him and ended up being nipped for his troubles. I found that not grasping a handful of pig from behind makes a big difference!

Dean (not sure if that's going to stick!) is the same as every other super confident young piggy I've ever come across... He's just exploring with his mouth :))

My last one was a bitter, I kept trying to dominate him, in the end I gave in. He doesn't really bite it's just a nibble really. Its more of getting to know you.
Dean is adorable!

Dean is fabulous.
Chances are he isn't really a biter either - sounds more like he was purchased on a whim and the kids got bored of him - poor boy.
I think sometimes people feel they have to come up with an excuse to return them, not realizing these labels stay with this living creature.
He is a lucky boy indeed.

What a lovely boy! and what a lucky boy to find a forever home with you! Will he live alongside Fred and George when the quarantine period is over?

Newly christened Percy, because Dean reminded me of a horrid boy I was at school with, will quite possibly spend his younger months living with Fred and George in their large c&c. In the past Fred and George, who are 7 and have been living together since birth and have the most stable and unshakable boar bond I have ever seen, have looked after young boars, shown them what is good to eat and generally taught them some manners!
Come the spring Percy will move into the garage with the rest of my piggies, either with a boar friend if we can find someone suitable, or he'll be neutered at that point and get a girlfriend.

Awwww Percy looks adorable and I love the name. Hope he knows how lucky he is that you happened to pop by at the right time

I'm such a soft touch- I just had visions of him being labelled as a lone piggy and living out the rest of his day's without any company. At least with me even if he won't get along with anybody, he'll be around other piggies.

he's gorgeous :luv: - and I've altered the thread title to show his new name.
Welcome to the forum Percy.

Awwww  That little face! That huge Choooooken leg! Those ears!

Congrats x

I adopted my Jerry from Pets at Home and he was a lone boar. I was encouraged to keep him on his own. However the lovely folks on here have encouraged me to tackle getting him a companion. So glad Percy has found his forever home :like::luv: this is Jezza a few days after coming home with me

He's a little star. He chats away almost constantly to Fred and George. He's still a bit skittish but he doesn't mind a cuddle once I manage to get hold of him!
There's been nothing more aggressive than a nibble of a carrot flavoured finger, so he's certainly not a biter.

Aww he looks sweet. I feel like lots of young guineapigs can be nibbly at first. Good thing you found him, it looks like they tried to falsely give him a bad reputation.

Awww, just beautiful! Very similar colouring to my Alice!
