Oh while I'm here...their nails are a tad curly? (You can see a bit in the pics) The rescue clipped their nails on Thursday when we picked them up but how do I know when they need doing again? Thank you x
Edit to say that yes that's a Spider-Man fleece blanket! They are training me well though and we have some lovely girly fleece stuff coming from ziggys piggies!
Oh my. What a pair of beauties and those whisker shots are to die for
How old are they? Older piggies do have nails that curl and grow thicker/more brittle. You have a mix of white/pink ones (easy to see the quick) and black ones (not so easy!)
You could leave it a couple of weeks then just trim a small amount off. If in doubt ask a nurse at your vets to demonstrate how to do it so that you are confident to do it yourself.
They are lovely girls and look quite relaxed in their new surroundings.
Cutting of the nails business is always a struggle but once you get used to it it isn't bad at all!
The best thing to do is not wait for them to over grow and then cut what i've always done is trim them every other week just to keep them down. Maybe the best is going to the vets to watch them and see how they do it first ( black nails are definitely harder ) I know here it costs about £5 each for them to be trimmed
I watched a lot of youtube vids and tutorials online about the best way to restrain and cut them its quite nerve racking as you're worried you will cut to far but once you've done it a few times its not as bad the only thing is that mine absolutely hate it! and then never sit still for me ( patience is key)
Awwwwww your little ones are so cute, so pleasing to see them settling in and getting their paws under the table!
Nail clipping is horrible but you do get better at it with practice. We use a two person technique, I hold while my wife trims. Also recommend feeding them at same time as distraction. A little torch is helpful for black nails so you can see where the quick is.
So gorgeous! I love the little black feetMy boys hate having their nails done, what scares me is when they twitch and I'm worried I'll cut too far...
To stop them getting to restless they get a break between feet and then some lavender at the end
