Hi everyone

David keeps biting hes bit me a few times now twice drawn blood. He doesnt appear frightened at all he will be crawling around you why your stroking him proper confident then he will start nibbling your finger then all of a sudden dig his teeth in.

Does anyone have an idea what it could be? i was wondering whether he thought it might be foood? drool

erm Dori tends to do this to me but not drawn blood before? she usually just does it as a sort of 'hello'

Guinea pigs are not normally aggressive particularly towards humans.
From my experience nasty biting usually takes place in boar v boar or adult sow v adult sow.

Could it be that your hands smelt of nice tasty vegetables or fruit and he just got confused?

Your hands may smell of something he likes to eat.

Or he might be trying to have a dominance game with you and see who comes out the stronger - just tell him off firmly, but gently (NOT easy when you're hurting; I've had a biter myself once).

If it doesn't get better, blow gently on his nose or give him a gentle (!) tug on the ruff like a piggy mommy would do with an errand child.

My sow was an uberdominant girl, and with her, it was clearly a dominance issue.

My guineas don't usually start out to bite me, but they will always have a nibble if I put my fingers through the bars and they are expecting food. They will have a nibble when I am cuddling them too, if I keep my fingers near their mouths, if they think it may taste good they may want to have a little bite, but I'm too quick for them

Maybe you handled a lettuce/veggies just before them. lol. xx

a baby bit me once- didn;t draw blood- and i gave him a firm telling off and a little tap on his nose (the slightest little finger tap) and i have never been bitten since- although he liked me after- not sure if thats a sorry but it was cute :)

. Is he still a young piggy?

i have the same problem, little rodney bit me very hard today and drew blood :( I'm hoping its just because i smelt of veggies as i had been preparing his dinner and changing his cage.

My guinea pig moo drew blood when I first had her but she hasn't since and the other day tiger took a chunk out of me and its infected now D:<

thanks for all this info people. David is 11 weeks old. i am pretty sure he isnt scared when I'm holding him so it may be dominance. ill try some of the techniques and let you know how i get on. It dont half hurt when he sinks his teeth in haha
