Dark lump on top of guinea pig hip, HELP!

Hello, this is my guinea pig Pooj and she is about 7 years old now. Recently I came home to visit her while studying out of state for school and she has this dark lump on the top of her hip. I have reason to believe that this lump has only surfaced within the past 3 weeks or so. Ive done some of my own research already and I think I know what it is but I would like anybody else's input if they have any insight on what this might be. Sorry I know the picture isn't exactly the best but it is about the size of a largish pea and it doesn't seem to hurt her or bother her too much. What I really want to know is if this is life-threatening to her. She's so sweet and I hate to think that she would be in pain in her old age. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read this thread and respond!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry but I don’t know what it could be. My advice would be to get it looked at and to make sure she isn’t in any pain. Is she moving around and eating like normal?

I’m afraid any lump needs a hands on vet check for diagnosis, particularly if it is growing rapidly.
I hope she is ok

Hi and welcome

Since there is such a wide range of 'lumps', ranging from harmless fatty lumps and sebaceous cysts to abscesses, trichofolioma or at the very worst a benign or malign tumour in that location on the body, it needs a hands-on vet examination to determine what is going on in your case but it is a problem that should hopefully be either able to be left under observation or where (if removal is necessary) it should be a fairly easy op with an excellent recovery prognosis - but that very much depends on what your vet thinks you are dealing with.
What you are seeing is the normal skin colour.

Lumps tend to come up rather suddenly to a certain size so you are unlikely to have missed it before they and you are not a bad owner. It is in my own ample experience with lumps of all sorts rather in the way of blink and there is a big lump! Very sorry about the bad timing, though.
