Dangerous Hay feeder

Hey everyone. Just wanted to post a beware of this item post. I purchased a hay feeder from Amazon. It's a circular wood feeder with a hole at the top. I previously purchased a different one from Pets at home but they were out of stock so I tried to find a similar one on Amazon. This one had a slightly larger hole at the top but was similar to my other one so I thought it would be ok. My to my horror my guinea pig got her head stuck in the hole and was screaming. I didn't want to pull her head out for fear of hurting her so my husband had to snap the legs and break it to get her out. She is ok but it was so scary. Dont buy anything with holes because it's so dangerous to your baby. I shutter to think of what would have happened had I not been home.

Oh gosh how scary for you both! I hope you’re piggy is okay.
there is a list of unsuitable items somewhere, perhaps ask to have it put on there as well.

When I was a new guinea pig owner, I thought that it was a good idea to place one of those wire hay feeders in my guinea pig's room. I thought that if it were mounted on the wall, that it would be too hard for my piggies to reach. The bottom had a stand so I placed it on the floor.
Guess who I found in the hay feeder only moments later?
I have now switched to "hay bags", and I am super happy to have a safe, mess-free option.

Oh gosh that's terrifying! Thanks for the warning I definitely won't be buying one of those any time soon! I'm so glad she's ok and you were there to free her. Your poor girl must have been so scared

It was awful but thankfully we got to her right away. Poor little baby.
