Hi guys, looking to.try source some daktarin oral gel, seems to be out of stock nationwide. Is there any other gels that will work to the same effect for a mild case of cheilitis.

Kind regards

I think you need to take your guinea pig to the vet and they will prescribe treatment.
By buying and dosing something yourself you risk over or under dosing, especially when using human medicines.

:agr:

Cheilitis can be bacterial or fungal. Your piggy may need to be prescribed antibiotics, not a fungal treatment and by home treating with an ny anti fungal product you run the risk of making the issue worse.

Please do see a vet and don’t attempt to home treat it yourself.
In the meantime, remove all acidic foods such as fruit and tomatoes from the diet

Been to the vets. Was prescribed 2 meditcations , charged over 200 pound treatments didn't work, don't fancy spending another 200+ for the same meds not to work again. Had animals all my life and self treated 100s of times. Never had any issues. Just after a cream or source of daktarin thanks

the vet needs to take further checks to find out which treatment will be effective. If antibiotics were given it’s possible they weren’t the right type for the bacteria present and another needs to be tried.
We will not advocate any home treatments as it is against UK law for us to do so

Which medications did the vet prescribe and what doses?
