hiya all

ive had the home check from rspca walsall on monday they called me today and said everything was fine and paddington will be able to come and live with us x)

I'm waiting to hear back of them to find out about daisy going to meet him etc so hopefully they will get on :),

what happens do i need to get a larger house for in the cage for 2 to fit in or 2 seperate houses in the cage ?

do they feed from the same dish and drink from the same water bottle or do i have to get 2 of each ?

Some people do like to get 2 of everything, as some piggies will try to 'hog' the food or water etc if a new piggy is introduced. I personally have two water bottles and then one of everything else (including food dish).

If you think daisy will be a 'hogger' of her food then add a 2nd dish just incase, same for a house.

After a few weeks you can take the 2nd food dish out etc if you like, as they will have learnt to share by then.

Hope this helps :).

A male and female bonding, is one of the best bonds you can get after the initial intoductions and both pigs accept each other.

Mine just have one, of everything except they do have two hides as even us humans like our own space at times! If someone is being overly dominant etc hogging the food I would introduce another as Emily has advised.

Well Done, for getting your piggy a friend from rescue as they will provide ongoing support for you, and you will be guaranteed a healthy pig. Once you see them interacting you'll question why she was on her own. My girl and boy pairs are all good friends and so cute together although Fred isn't much of a Gentleman.

Before returning them to Daisy's home give it a good clean to make sure it is as neutral as possible but I imagine they will return home in the same carrier and bond in the carrier if you like. As a precaution I would still be inclined to clean the cage anyway.

Please don't forget pictures! :) xx

As a whole, dominance is not as central in a cross gender bonding as it is with a same sex pair. I would provide two hideys - not every piggy is a sharer.

Best of luck with the dating!

Well done for taking on Paddington. He's such a lovely chap. I'm sure they'll be very happy together.

I have two water bottles and more food bowls than pigs :red but then its now split between two levels in the hutch and I made sure there was no chance of resource guarding. I even have 4 hay racks and lots of beds and hides for them to choose from.

good luck with the meeting
