Have bought our 2 guinea pigs a lovely big 2 tier hutch, but they are making no attempt to go up the ramp, are guinea pigs ok with these type of hutches? we have realised the ramp is a little steep so my husband is going to make a better one, but before he does it and so not to waste his time i thought i would ask here first.

Thankyou :)

There's lots of people on here that have 2 tiered piggie hutches and yes they do take awhile to get used to them :)
Have you tried showing them the ramp and enticing them with a treat that leads them all the way up to say more yummies?
I'm sure one of the lovely people who've got a similar setup will be on here soon to advise you O0
Oh btw it's not a silly question at all love :) you're just being careful and considerate to your furbabies :smitten:

Thanks glynis :)

Have just realised i have probably posted this in the wrong place, oops!

I am just a little frightened of if they fell (i know i sound silly!) do you think the ramp could be a little steep or am i just being daft? it has strips of wood going across like little steps, but the reason i thought it may be steep as i think it is actually a rabbit hutch. I might try and entice them up with a piece of broccoli tomorrow haha.

Sounds very similar to the hutch I have and yes it took a while for Elmo and Hamish to realise what the ramp was for. I put bits of fresh basil all the way up the ramp and that did the trick. If you make sure the bedding on the bottom is thick and soft, even should one fall, they wouldnt be hurt :)

I have recently put 2 of my boys into a 2 tier hutch. It took one of them 3 days to work out how to use the ramp and the other just sat at the top wheeking until his friend came back up. It took him another 2 days before he used it. It does take time but they will do it.
