Hi my guinea Vinnie has two cysts one between his shoulders and one near his grease gland. Thes have appeared in the last couple of months. I am booking him in to the vets tomorrow. These are not Vinnies first cysts. Last year he had two removed one of which was huge that had ruptured and became infected. He was under the supervision of our vet but he had another ailment that took precedence until his cyst popped. His previous cysts were in a different places to these new ones. Vinnie had three times been put under anaesthetic last year and the last time was for a huge bladder stone so I'm anxious about agreeing to him being operated on especially so soon after but I don't want them to get too big and pop 🤢. Is this something that happens having multiple ones, are they some prone to them or are we just unlucky?

I’m sorry to hear Vinnie has developed more cysts. I’ve no experience of this but wanted to offer support nonetheless.

I’m sure your vet will be able to guide you on how to move forward. All the best for your appointment tomorrow.

Hi
Some piggies are more 'lumpy' and must have a genetic disposition. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about. Cysts and lipomas are pretty common in guinea pigs.

If it is still rather close to his bladder operation, perhaps monitoring the cysts for now may be better? I am sure that your vet will advise you.

I presume these will keep growing like his last ones. 😮‍💨The vet said at the time they usually just stay small but his grew big really quickly.
I like to be prepared for the vets so when I get there so I don't get flustered and forget what questions I have. He could do with a rest the poor thing was nearly bold by the time he'd finished with all his ops last year from them shaving him. He had to come home in a kitten baby grow 😭
