Hi fellow Gpig parents.

I have a 6 year old female that despite 6 weeks (2 separate 3 week antibiotic regimens) on chloramphenicol, today we are seeing definite blood in her urine. The culture done on her in the beginning stated it was “Corynebacterium Renale”. She was also started on Baytril for 8 days but refused to eat anything so we switched to Chloramphenicol. I did call the vet to let them know about the blood today. Anyone have any similar experiences? All of her issues started in March when we had her ovaries removed due to cysts, they discoverd the cystitis in surgery. So frustrating because I don’t want a UTI to be what takes her out… it just seems like there has got to be something that we could do.

Poor piggy 😢 My boy Eric has interstitial cystitis and Cystease for cats works wonders for him, along with meloxidyl for pain relief. It's not a substitute for a vet but it may be worth a try for your piggy?
