Hi, I’m just wondering what kind of dose the cystaid plus is for piggies?
We’ve given cystease before but I can’t for the life of me remember the dose for that or if it would be the same with the cystaid plus. BB has IC and weighs 1386 grams. He’s suffering quite badly with pain at the moment, bless him, it’s awful to hear. He’s on metacam for the pain but it doesn’t seem to be doing much.
Any help would be appreciated :)

Cystease is normally one capsule a day. I used to give it twice daily, mix one capsule in two mls of water. I used a small medicine bottle, keep unused half in the fridge until needed.
Sorry I don't know about Cystaid, hopefully someone will be along soon who does.

Thank you!
I don’t suppose you know the ingredients in the cystease and their amounts per capsule? I’m thinking it might just be the same thing in different packaging? I don’t have any cystease packaging to see if there’s anything on there for myself.
This has, per capsule, 125mg of N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine, 25mg of L-Theanine, 20mg of Quercetin dihydrate.

Feliway Cystease - each capsule contains
125mg N-Acetyl glucosamine, 10mg Hyaluronic Acid, 37.5mg L-tryptophan
Okay thank you, that’s really helpful. Since the glucosamine levels are the same, I think it should be okay to give the same dose as the cystease since that’s the part that treats the issue. I want to get a dose in him today so fingers crossed it’ll be alright, I might give him a bit less than half a tablet to be on the safe side. Thanks again :)

Hi!

You use cystaid the same way as cystease; they are the same strength. The usual dose is 1 capsule per day; the contents mixed with 2 ml of water (your choice whether you want to give it all every 24 hours or 1 ml of the solution every 12 hours).

I do give the contents of 1 capsule about every 12 hours at the start of treatment for the first week and then again for 2-3 days at the start of a new flare in order of getting on top of it more quickly. Upping the glucosamine seems to be more effective than upping the metacam.

Awesome, thank you, that helps a lot. Hopefully it helps his pain quite quickly. What do you think is the best way to store it between doses once the water has been added?
