Guys can you help me? What’s the difference between a cyst and a tumour, is a cyst hard?
I have just noticed My 2 year old GP has a lump on her back that’s about 1.5CM big and is hard but moves with the skin (like it’s on the skin) there’s no pus or anything you can’t even see it until you feel it

Lumps can be many things but only a hands on examination by a vet can really tell you what it is. I would always get any new lump checked out as the sooner they are diagnosed and treated the better the outcome for your piggy.

Try not to worry too much, my skinny pig has been diagnosed with a sebaceous cyst on his back and a couple of fatty lumps on his tummy. Currently our vet is just leaving them be as they are not painful or getting bigger and hindering movement.

Hi!

We strongly recommend to have any larger lump vet checked. There is quite a large variety in 'lumps' ranging from harmless sebacious cysts and fatty lumps to abscesses and tumors (benign or malign) with different manifestations, which can certainly not be diagnosed safely sight unseen.

Your vet will have a good look and feel, and if there are concerns, they may do a needle aspiration. Any decisions between keeping the lump under observation or whether operative removal would be better can then be made on a much more informed basis.

I would however not panic. Lumps often come up very suddenly to quite a size and then settle down. ;)
