I got a cuy from my mom's friend's oldest daughter's stalker. This stalker left this pig in a pet store cage at (my mom's friend's oldest daughter's) doorstep. I took her to the vet and she was fine and about 2 years old. They never said anything about her being a cuy - I found out a few months later while researching piggies again. (Before the cuy I have had 2 boys for a year.) It has now been a year with this cuy (Ginger.) I recently went to my rescue and got an abby. I call her Ayla. Ayla has been here for two weeks. Last night I introduced them for the first time. It didn't take long for Ayla to go and find Ginger under a fleece hammock. (In the bathroom in a c&c play pen) They were doing great for about half an hour and a few rumble struts and quiet chattering. I could see that Ginger was a little more confident, but still extremely skittish because she is a cuy. After a while, Ayla started slowly (an inch every few minutes) going towards Ginger while eating hay. Ayla would start rumble strutting and teeth chattering loudly, and they would start bickering and it was very scary. I wasn't sure if it was a full on fight or not but I tried not to use my handy dustpan. After several for of these "fights," I took Ayla out and examined her face and bottom. She was fine and so was Ginger (when I finally cought her.) I don't want to do it again today so I asked my friend (she has 7 girls in one cage) to come tomorrow and sit with me since she has so much experience. Of course the girls are separate but will it be different if I try somewhere else that's nuetral? Any tips on what you think went wrong? New fleece, new grids, new everything.
