Hiya,

I just took my piggies in for their nail trim and when Blossom was having hers done, the quick was accidentally nicked. She is a wriggly pig with dark nails! She didn’t squeal but it did bleed.
The nurse has put something (sorry can’t remember the name!) on it to seal the cut and Blossom is running around and munching away on her food. She is looking pretty angry at me, but I can understand that 😂
Unfortunately we are going away this week (Tuesday) and leaving with the pigs with a pet sitter. The pet sitters are great and my mum is popping in too. Just wanted some thoughts about whether I am ok to leave them. I know it is probably fine but I am scared about potential infections.
My gut is telling me to leave alone and not irritate the cut further, to keep the cage as clean as I can and to watch out for any limping/ being off her food. This might be harder to monitor when we are not here.
Is there anything else I can do? Hopefully I have got myself into a state about nothing- I think I am more traumatised than she is!

Thank you

I always come away more traumatised than my piggies when I nick their quick! As long as it stopped bleeding she should be okay. Enjoy your break 🙂

Don’t worry.
I always have a dish of cornflour at hand when I trim nails and a cut quick with one of them is inevitable.
The nick heals quickly and a bribe of favourite veg works wonders

Hi

As the wound is disinfected and dealt with, I would not be worried and definitely not change your plans. Please just leave your girl and her toe be. The cut will seal over quickly.

We deal with plenty of cuts to the quick both on the forum and occasionally with our own piggies but are hardly ever confronted with any infections resulting from them. Your girl will forgive you once it stops hurting. ;)
