My little Penny (one year old) seems to be developing a curve to one of her toes. I'm not sure the photo does it justice, but I attached it here. If I remember correctly, I think I've heard of this occurring in older guinea pigs, but Penny is only one. She's walking normally so I don't think it's a result of injury except that I don't remember it being like that before. She's eating, drinking, peeing, and pooing normally. Weight is stable. Anyone else have this happen with their piggies? Should I schedule a vet appointment?

Guinea pigs nails can start to curl as they get older but it can also happen to young piggies too. Nothing to worry about, it just makes clipping the nail a little harder
Oh, ok! Thanks for the info. That's a big relief. We have 5 piggies, but Penny is the only one with this issue so far. Good to know. Thanks again!

Nails get curlier and harder to manage with age... just keep them trimmed. Her toe is okay, it's just the nail growing thicker and curlier with time.

All of Betsy's nails on her front feet curve badly and are an absolute nightmare to trim. I just tend to take the tippy tips off every couple of weeks to keep them short so that she can walk properly. Betsy is also happy to use her teeth as a show of displeasure at having a pedicure so I can only trim a couple of nails at at time - if I want to keep my fingers that is!

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. I appreciate it!
@Betsy I hope you get to keep your fingers!
