Hello

Due to my ever growing piggy family I am thinking of converting my upstairs cupboard into a giant multi-level cage. The cupboard already has shelves in it (well slats to make shelves) and I was thinking of using wood and linoleum to make the floors and along the edge of the shelves putting a piece of wood for security.

Between the floors using edged ramps and as the door use the existing cupboard doors but cut out the 4 panels and use mesh over the panels so they can see out.

What do you think about this idea? I would just need to sweet talk my OH (as always!)

Ooo this sounds like a fabulous idea, and cutting out the panels to have windows is rather insperational! :) Hope to see some photos soon! :) good luck sweet talking your OH into making it for you :):)

Great idea!

I have seen quite a few bookcases and they have all worked very well!

:)):)) My poor OH though I had been clearing to cupboard to give us more space, little does he know what the space will be for :x

Charlotte, will the ventilation be good enough?
otherwise, fab idea
B

The four panels take up most of the door with just a cross shape and the frame around them so if I removed them and covered them with mesh it should provide plenty of ventilation.

Great idea I have seen a few hamster cages made the same way.

fab idea and good luck
I can't even pursuade my OH that my piggies should be indoor piggies all year round - he even threatened to have a new shed to put them in during winter!

can't wait to see piccies

That's what i have done with one of my large walking cupboards ....only on one level at the moment but i am planning to put a couple of large shelfs for my foster cages to go on :):)

Do you mean something like these?
Sounds a good idea :)

Was looking through the internet for alternative cages and came accross them. :)
