Well we've just had our first cuddles with our little men, we've been desparate since we brought them home at the weekend and tonight decided we could wait no longer!

I had Guinness and my partner had Bailey and Oh My,Wow! So cute and soft and squidgy and just....awww I'm in love!

They both put up a fight to be picked up but I thought seeing as we were having to catch them, we should peservere even though they didn't seem keen as I didn't want to put them through the catching process without showing them that the end result was a really nice one...ie a lovely cuddle. I'm not sure if I did the right thing but hopefully I did. We didn't hold them for long, just a couple of minutes because as they were both silent, I think they were a little freaked out but we'll build the time up slowly each time and hopefully the boys will learn to love their cuddles as much as us.

They are sooooooooooo wonderful, I hope it was the first of many lovely and much longer cuddles.

:)):)):))x)x)x)

Good luck to you! Cuddles are sooo wonderful!

Make the picking up a ritual ( I always use the same phrase), so they know what to expect. Best manoeuvre them into a corner to pick them up without too many shenanigans. Or wrap them in a towel, if necessary. I use an upturned pigloo (with some kitchen paper and a treat inside) for shifting them round, as mine are all very shy rescue piggies at first.

Most piggies come round to loving their cuddles, but very few like being picked up.

AWW that's cute! Hey I think you were very restrained waiting that long.

I bet they come round to loving the cuddles very soon. Got any photos?

cuddles are the best aren't they!?! x)

Like they said before, always say the same phrase when getting them out, then they will learn its going to be Cuddle Time....they will in time enjoy it. Mine still dont enjoy being 'caught'...lol
Hold a little longer each time, then they will get used to it. But beware!! when they begin nipping at your clothes or fingers....or reaching to their bums to check for poos...Its time to go back to the cage! They really really dont want to wee or poo on you, and this is their way of telling your its time to go potty.
They only have 15 minute bladders...so dont get discouraged when you dont get alot of time cuddling. Just know they'll be ready for next time!

Thanks for the advice on picking them up, I will remember that. Yesterday we sort of chased them a bit into the corner and just went for it- seemed to work although it took a couple of attempts but then we are novices and a little nervous too. My boys and Us are learning together.

I do have a couple of photo's on my phone that I took yesterday so I'll try to upload them this evening, well I'll try to get my partner to upload them as I have no clue how to get photo's from phone to PC. They aren't particularly brilliant piccies as the boys are still quite nervous of us and when we go into the room.

They run and hide away but then if we put food out and keep very still and quiet they will come out and as long as we keep still, they will munch and run around happily with us watching them.

They haven't been out in their run yet as I haven't been picking them up until yesterday and I've wanted them to settle into their cage first. Do you think I could put them in the run today either inside or outside? when I come home from work. Is it still too soon?

Thank you all again, your advice is proving invaluable.

Tracey x

Nah I would say it's fine to put them in their run. Either indoors or out.

Thanks, they're in the run in the dining room now, seem happy enough. I really need to learn to understand the noises they're making. I've listened to the sounds on the internet but I'm still struggling to interpret them. I'll get there.

Thanks again.

You'll get there - they are so expressive that even my aloof hubby knows now what they are saying!

HaHa, I'm sure I will. I just worry I'm going to miss something important. They do seem to be displaying some male dominance to each other, Bailey has been climbing on Guinness. They keep chasing each other and they squeak an awful lot at each other. I'm hoping they're going to get on well together and that i'm just being paranoid.

I've uploaded some pics of the boys in the picture gallery now.

Thanks again for all your help, I always need reassurance in everything, this forum is a god send!

They are just doing what I call "working through the fine print of their relationship" - making sure who's top boy and how much he can get away with!

Thats good to know. Thanks. We've just put them back into the cage, where they ran straight into the hidey hole. They had a fair while in the run, but didn't want them to be in there for too long the first time, ooooh I'm so enjoying this!
