My new Rex, Mary has settled in so well! Tonight she laid out on my partners lap 😍.
I did try a little introduction with opal and olive during floor play time, it went well. Mary seems pretty chilled and didn’t make much fuss, but then opal and olive had a big squabble so I put them all back as I didn’t want to upset the pair and have them two fall out! Mary will just have to stay on her own a little longer and keep introducing with some floortime and see how things go. She seems very content on her own at the moment, so we will take our time.
Our ‘wild’ corella is also feeling right at home 😆 he is SO attention seeking! He is recovering really well and I hope to release him by the new year. Going to start putting him an outside aviary during the day times for some test flights and build up his muscle 😊4441340F-A3F8-4AAC-9CAD-ACCAAD79388F.webpE47C65B2-342C-4E9C-A214-A11199AFF79E.webp9DFB0F8C-9F0E-42FE-B934-B565B5BE89AB.webp9EC4021E-0137-427A-AF39-C68A7C6CAE05.webpC7E6CA1F-CBB6-4CC3-A0FD-99333AA97E76.webpE136A21F-307F-4A7A-A0D1-236CC38E9BA5.webpF4010E8C-F714-4CF0-A43F-6A6BAE65F7B2.webp

Thanks for the furry  and winged updates!

Your piggies are lush, Mary looks like such a cuddler

Opal and Olives sooooo cute, please keep us updated on your Corella he seems like such a character!

Lovely photos. Still can’t believe how gorgeous the corella is. So lucky that you’re able to help him back to the wild

The piggy pics are so sweet, but your corella just made my day.
I grew up in Australia, and these birds are part of the soundtrack of my childhood :))
After living abroad for so long there isn't a huge amount that I still miss, but Australian birdsong is one of those things (along with Violet Crumbles, coffee scrolls and lamingtons :drool::drool:).

Beautiful photos, I’ve never heard of a Corella, I used to keep cockatiels many years ago and they were extremely good at mimicking and full of character x

What a beautiful bird the corella is.
I’ve never seen one before.
It’s great that you’re able to help him back to health.
As for the piggies - all I can say is :luv::luv::luv::luv::luv:

There soundtrack sure is a noisy:)) there is a massive mob of coreallas and cockatoos that live around this property, I love watching them get ready in the evening when they are all flying to their bed time trees! I can’t wait for sunny to be able to fly free with them, I’ll cry like he’s a child leaving home lol as he is such a huge character and the cottage will be strange without him..and quiet haha!
We are out here on a working holiday visa but we are planning on moving here as my partner has been offered a good job!

Lovely piggies. The bird’s colour is so pretty! As an aside note, guinea pigs don’t do ‘playdates’. So, if you’ve decided to bond them you have to leave them together. Putting them together at floor time then putting them back in separate cages is stressful for them.

Oh I read on one of the pinned posts on the forum that floortime is a good way of introducing, maybe I mis-read. Thank you 😊

Yes it is. Hay, food and space - essentially floor time. But if you plan to bond them you can’t put them to bed separately. Good luck 🙂
