When I first got guinea pigs many moons ago and for many years after, the only cubes available were from Safco from Wayfair (or from America through UK amazon). Those grids are 36cm square.

Now, (hurray) grids are much more widely available and also a lot cheaper. Which is great for new pig owners. I’ve just bought another box myself to make floor time easier (I re-built my cage and had to use all of my old grids) and noticed that the grids are quite a bit smaller at 30cm. In fact, I tried to find 36cm grids but the only ones that size are safco grids (at double the prize).

Therefore, just a thought, that our normal references to, for example, a 2x4 cage may no longer be right - 4 grids used to be 144cm, but with the cheaper versions on amazon would only be 120cm, similar to a large shop bought cage, and a pig length difference of 24cm!

Just thinking out loud.

Mind is blown! That is an excellent point
