Crusty sores

Please have your piggy checked by the vet. Would you be able to post a photo as well? And does your piggy live alone?

Please don’t isolate him, there’s no need. We don’t recommend ‘medical separation’ as that can cause issues later down the line. The other piggy has already been exposed to whatever it is, if contagious. I would be more careful with hygiene in case it’s a fungal infection. But we can’t diagnose as we’re not qualified vets. Get them both booked in with the vet.

How long have you had them and where were they from?

Please don’t separate them, but do definitely get your piggy seen by a vet.

We can’t diagnose anything but scabs around the mouth and nose could be cheilitis (a bacterial infection) or a fungal infection.

Do you feed them fruit and tomatoes? If so, please remove fruit and tomatoes from the diet. Too much acidity can cause cheilitis.
