my most recent baby Albert has a crusty and dry ear. I’m fairly convinced it’s not mites or bacterial, I simply think it is just dry skin, there is a slight bit where there’s a tiny scab but i think it’s from where he’s just been scratching his dry itchy skin (it just looks like a scratch) Will this be acceptable to put on it or are the ears too sensitive for this? It says for irritated and itchy skin, and that it is for soothing?

I would advise you not to home treat but rather have piggy seen by the vet. Especially if he’s scratched enough to create a scab.

:agr:

And as you also mention ‘recent’, obviously we have no picture so can’t see what it actually looks like nor diagnose anything, but as you do say recent, then I’d want to be sure it isn’t ringworm

When I first got Pepper he had mites but Percy’s only symptom was a dry ear. I’d definitely get them checked over for peace of mind.

I agree with the other posters. When I first got my Ena, she had a crusty ear. I took her to the vet and it turned out she had a fungal infection. More scabs and crusts appeared over the coming days

It’s not a good photo but it’s just a little ring of dry skin. I’ve put coconut oil on it and it’s pretty much already cleared up. I will keep putting coconut oil on it and if it doesn’t clear up a trip to the vets it will be

It’s always the advice of the forum to have a vet check things over given none of us can make a diagnosis. Putting anything on it yourself before seeing a vet can cover distinctive markers which can make it harder for a vet to make a diagnosis

:agr: Please stop applying anything and get your piggy booked in to see the vet.

I would definitely be getting that checked by a vet.
The problem with using over the counter and home remedies is that they can initially mask the symptoms really well and look like they are actually dealing with the problem.
However in the longer term they end up making diagnosis difficult for a vet and the initial problem can then be harder to treat.
I would stop applying the coconut oil and have him checked by a vet to rule out a more serious (but still treatable) skin condition.
It certainly looks like more than just a bit of dry skin, but only a hands on examination by a vet can tell for sure.
