did anyone see GMTV this morning about tail docking in dogs?

omg what a snob the woman was with the two dogs,I'm sorry but I'm sure at a few days old a puppy -would- feel pain when it has its tail docked, ive heard them at a days old yelp in pain once when someone accidently caught one with her fingernail,Id love to chop one of the womans fingers off and say " now see how it feels with part of you missing!"
its really annoyed the hell out of me
they do it for the look...wtf :o :o :o
if a dog was meant to be without a damn tail it would be born without one,the tail is there for a reason, for showing emotions and other signs to other dogs..argghh it makes me so mad
appar theres a law coming out next month banning tail docking, and not before time!!!

I saw that this morning on GMTV too..made me angry :tickedoff: Like you say, if they weren't meant to have tails they wouldnt have them!

Unfortunately Crufts seems to attract a lot of people like that woman. I went up a few years ago out of interest. I did enjoy it, especially the trade stands but some of the people were just ugh.

Best bit was when this woman in a white trouser suit was prancing round the ring when her German Shepherd did a GINORMOUS poo on the green baize. She tried to clean it up with a tiny tissue. ;D (someone took pity and gave her a bag but boy did it stain!)

hahahaha wheres Vanish when you need it and a bag to put over the head for the shame

my aunt used to participate in the crufts but fortuantly she never did "mutilate" any of the dogs she had!

I did see a program on TV a while ago about ear clipping with some breeds, its banned here but legal in the US of A. turned out majprity of people did it so their dogs "looked good". imo its terrible and as said earlier. If they didnt need it they would be born without it, how would a human feel if a part of them was taken off?!

I Think originally alot of tails were taken off to stop hunting dogs or fetchers to prevent them from being snarred in traps. i may be wrong but its just a guess.

anyhoo I'm deffinatly against it and what i did see on GMTV this morning was terrible!

yep that's the gist of it.. to stop the tails being caught in the undergrowth etc ......springer spaniels should be the only breed that it could even be considered upon, as they are the most commonly kept gundogs and have an extremely long/hairy tail. I don't believe in it at all though.

I mean, why does a rottweiler need a cropped tail! and ear cropping... have you seen the terrible pics of dobermans with 'ear splints' on whilst they are healing.

I think dog fanciers in general have just gone too far.... breeding and all. All their showing criteria i.e. Bulldogs must have such short noses that they can't breathe - thank you ::) I could go on forever about the ridiculous traits bred in for the breed standard *argh* poor dogs ......

Ears were originally cropped for dog fights so that the opposition had noting to grab onto! seems it caught on as a trend but its still unfair and cruel!

Dogs should be left alone in their natural way - these people claim to be animal lovers but i reckon that some of them are far from it
