Just reading the thread about poor little spice, hope he gets better soon. You all seem so knowledgeable with poorly piggies. My daughter has four, I have two at the moment, and another two coming in a couple of weeks. Should I have stuff like this in, in case its needed. What is Critical Care from the vet? Don't want to get neurotic about piggies becoming poorly, but would like some advice on how to be prepared, so I can do the very best for them. Thanks.

Yep you get it from the vet. I think it is hay based but could be wrong. It smells kinda minty. I would get some in, its very handy. :)

Is this a sort of liquid then that is syringed orally? Or mash? I am happy to be thick with you jon. x

It's a complete handfeeding supplement. It's timothy based with added vitamins, minerals, probiotics etc. Basically everything (including fibre, which is why feeding them baby food on its own isn't a good idea as some vet suggest) a piggy needs to survive if they're not eating. It comes in a sort of powdery form, rather like dried herbs, and you add water to it.

After the vet had seen Pickle this afternoon, Whilst I was paying, I asked the receptionist about Critical Care, and tried to explain what it was. She hadn't any idea. She was very nice and asked if I wanted to hang on for the nurse, she might be able to help me, but I thought it best to get Pickle home. So, no further on with this. Any ideas what I specifically have to ask for? x

Gosh Helen, that is perfect, will print off and take to my vet. Thanks loads. x
Jon, now we know what this is!
