DebbieR

I know that a lot of us like to write poems and short stories so I thought I'd start a thread so that we can show them off ;D

I'll start with one that I wrote for my mum a few years ago.

DEAR MUM

I’m sending this to you with love
As I thank the angels up above
For choosing you to care for me
They must have known how good you’d be

A teenage bride aged sweet sixteen
A face so happy and serene
When I came along you didn’t falter
You loved your little baby daughter

Four years on you gave to me
A little brother then there were three
Cocooned in love we grew and thrived
We fought the world and we survived

Dancing round the living room
Singing songs into a broom
Stories of witches in the park
A nightmare fairy for the dark

Memories of a love so strong
Comfort me when things go wrong
A person no one could disparage
A tribute to your strength and courage
With a heart so gentle and caressing
My mother’s love really is a blessing

Hope you like it and will join me in showing off your work :)

Aw thanks. :smitten: I read it at my mums funeral. I've also written poems for my brother and my nan too :)

That's beautiful Debbie :smitten:

In the past I've written some poems, but nowhere near as good as that :)

I bet they are Kelly. Who's to say what's good and what's not. That's the good thing about poetry, there are so many different styles and people like different ones.

Lets hear yours. Go on... be brave :D

Just a few...............

Time

Sometimes life is what you make it.
The surprise, suspense, the intensity of it all. Mind-blowing.
Life is hard, tragic, but can be made easier.
Happy times, jokes shared, secrets told and laughter heard.
Love given, love received, kisses exchanged.
Company enjoyed and shared.
Feelings felt, expressed. Not hidden.
Arguments, ignorance, not needed.
Strong love
Always, never ending.......................

His Touch

Like an electric shock passing through her body
No pain, an overwhelming sensation
A feeling of excitement
A feeling of love
Consuming her body
Taking control
Two bodies intertwined as one
Two hearts beating together
The feeling of disbelief
His kisses so deep and meaningful
Not wanting it to end
A million miles into his heart
Passion and intimacy in their eyes

Love never ending

Could it be true?
For two to become one
…………It was done

You Left - written when my best friend died about 6 years ago now

What do you do when it’s gone?
Move on?

Things so hard, hard to take in.
Life thrown away, put in the bin.

Gone forever, no longer together.

Not forgetting our time shared.
Having our own fun – nobody cared.

You now leaving, I’m still grieving.

Why say goodbye?

It’s not your turn,
There’s so much we can learn.

There’s something for you to know, my love for you friend, I want to show.

I need you near, not far apart.

You left me in spirit, but NEVER in my heart……

Paper Friend

When I’m hurting you’re not there
To stop and listen or show you care
Or take the time to hear me say
‘I want you to listen to me today’

You just go and leave me alone
As I write all my feelings and have a good moan

To the only one I communicate with more than you
My pad of paper, ruled lines too

I want you to be there to let me know
That everything I have inside, I can show

On this note I have to end
To spend more time with my paper friend . . . . . . .

I didn't write this, as i can't write poetry to save my life ::) but this is by far my favourite poem and i thought everyone else read it! It is about rabbits but it could so easily be about any other animal.

I remember Easter Sunday
It was colorful and fun
The new life that I'd begun
In my new cage.

I was just a little thing
When they brought me from the store
And they put me on the floor
In my cage.

They would take me out to play
Love and pet me all the time
Then at day's end I would climb
In my cage.

But as days and weeks went by
I saw less of them it seemed
Of their loving touch I dreamed
in my cage.

In the night outside their house
I felt sad and so neglected
Often scared and unprotected
In my cage.

In the dry or rainy weather
Sometimes hotter sometimes colder
I just sat there growing older
In my cage.

The cat and dog raced by me
Playing with each other only
While I sat there feeling lonely
In my cage.

Upon the fresh green grass
Children skipped and laughed all day
I could only watch them play
From my cage.

They used to take me out
And let me scamper in the sun
I no longer get to run
In my cage.

Once a cute and cuddly bunny
Like a little ball of cotton
Now I'm grown up and forgotten
In my cage.

I don't know what went wrong
At the home I did inhabit
I just grew to be a rabbit
In my cage.

But they've brought me to the pound
I was once loved and enjoyed
Now I wait to be destroyed
In my cage.

:) Aww thank you.. I just.. well I've never shown anyone before except for Mike, and well he's biased :D

They are on a disk, not my puter. I guess they are too much of a reminder for me to always have access to them...... I have others too, but they are a bit deep!

here is my most recent one.
wrote it just a minute a go.

The days when you said goodbye,
and smiled as you left.
And i'd fall to the door
because my heart you kept.
I couldn't relise something there
until my chances decreased.
I cant even face you,
I cant even see.
I'm blinded by my agony.
the day you stopped saying goodbye
and each love song playing
a tear falls from my eye.
When your smile turned to frown
and your friendship turned to hate,
and i relise i love you
but, now its too late.
So i'll sit here waiting
thinknig you'll turn around and smile
maybe say goodbye.
if i wait a while.
