I've just moved house (still don't have proper internet - boo!), but I just wondered if anyone had any innovative ideas for creating shade in a sunny room. Cassie's old room was north facing, so it was almost too dark, and never got the sun. This one is east facing, so it gets quite a bit.

I think in some ways the sun will be good for her (she seems fairly bright and breezy), but obviously I need to watch the temperature. I've draped a towel over the end of the cage nearest the window, and put a thermometer in the cage. I just wondered if anyone had any good ideas.

Thanks. :)

A Venetian blind on the window that would allow you to easily alter how much light enters the room?

Mine live outside though, so I'm sure someone who keeps indoor pigs would be able to give you their solutions.

curtains?
We close the curtains on very sunny days

As Furries says, blinds are good for controlling the light in the room. We fitted them last year in our lounge (purely for the piggies of course :(|)) to keep the room cool, they are also great for any window draughts in the colder months and with curtains drawn, make such a difference.

If you did want some venetian blinds, I've got wooden venetian blinds from B&Q that you are welcome to? You'd obv have to check the size, but I was going to give them to charity...they were only used 4 months an then I decided I preferred roller blinds in my bedroom!

Thanks for all the help (and also the very kind offer) - have finally got proper internet back so am catching up!

At the moment I've got a roller blind in there, and I'm pulling it down in the afternoons when it's sunny. I have a thermometer inside the cage, so I can monitor it pretty closely.
