Sunday weigh-in has revealed significant weight loss for Cream. His next scheduled appointment, with uncle Simon, is 15th May, so I’ll be on the phone at 8am, in the morning, for an urgent appointment. Cream is eating and appears well, but guinea pigs can hide signs of illness, until they’re very poorly. Keeping an eye on their weight is a good way to monitor them!

He certainly seems to be enjoying run time, with his buddy, Ivan! 💙💙

He is gorgeous, fingers crossed all goes well with your appointment cream x ❤️

I agree. I know some people don't bother because they say they can tell by just looking at them or picking them up and well, yes, to some degree this is true depending on how much they have lost (or gained). Sometimes when weighing my pigs I think " Ooo you feel a bit lighter (or plumper)" and pop them on the scales and am usually right. But without regular weighing you don't know the amount they have lost or over what time frame, both of which can help a vet in their diagnosis. A gradual weight loss over several weeks will most likely point to something different to the same amount of loss within a couple of days. Also by regular weighing you get to know each piggy's individual normal weight range. I find some go up and down a lot more than others.

I totally agree. Pepper losing 100g in one week was a definite wake up call. No other symptoms at that time. It took another two weeks for the abscess to show up.

Cream has lost a similar amount! He does have dental issues, but generally goes another three weeks between dentals. Hopefully we’ll get to the bottom of what’s doing on, tomorrow x

Good luck. That is a big drop but hopefully Cat and Rabbit can work out what’s going on. 🤞🏻

Hope it’s nothing serious and q quick tidy up of his teeth do the trick 🤞
