I was just wondering if any of you do any type of crafts?

I do cross stitch and i love it, i've just finished quite a large cross stitch for a suprise for my mum of 2 cherubs, it took me 1 1/2 years to do! lol, i'm about to start a fairy one for my daughters and i think thats going to take just as long!

I'd really like to do card making and scrapbooks but i just wouldn't know where to start, my neighbour makes gorgeous cards and has family photo scrap books that are beautiful so she has kind of inspired me to give it a go.

What crafts do you do if any?, and if any of you do card making or scrap books what is the best way to get started for a beginner?

i love doing cross stitch but wonder if i should wait until i am older to do it...?!

would love to be able to knit. my nan used to teach me but everything i have ever made has holes in it. i've been looking everywhere for that new magazine advertised on the tv but can't find it - grrrr. anyone found it? it's the 99p one that comes with free needles and dvd

:) I`m a crafter as well, you name it I have had a go ;D Just got into card making ::) The trouble is my dinning room isin`t big enough to house all my crafting materials ! ::) I recycle all sorts of things I know I can make things out off :o

I do cross stitching and have done for as long as I can remember. I think I was about 8 when i started. :D I absolutely love it. I do it every evening I'm not out and every lunch time too.

If you want to start card making, I would suggest getting a starter kit and build it up from there. My sister in law makes cards and has hundreds of bits and pieces. I love looking through her stuff and she makes beautiful cards. I make cross stitch cards and am currently building up a stock for Mother's Day which I'm hoping to sell. I'm trying to raise money to give to my rodentologist so she can keep looking after my guinea, George and keep him healthy and alive.

I make cards (not very good), but keeps me busy. I also like to make things with artificial flowers and to decorate wooden spoons :)

Why wait till your older? Any age can cross stitch, my 9 year old daughter has just started and loves it! They sell the knitting magazine in my local mercury news shop so if you have one near you try there.

I used to do loads of craft things. My mu does church flowers so I'm good at that coz she taught me but I just do random things like cross stiching, cards and knitting :)

is anyone interested in donating some THANK YOU Cards for my organisation which help to send items to premature babies though the UK.

if anyone comes across pastel colour buttons please can you give me a shout please

Julie I cant belive that! I love cross stitch, I'm doing a photo one at the mo of Rebecca. I have done latch hook rugs as well, card making and even knitting! Well when I have time!

I love X stich too but I only can be bothered with small projects... dont have the time or patience for big ones. Got a lovely book for X mas called Picture your Pet in Cross Stich... it has the cutest Guinea pig designs in tehre as well as dogs, ferrets, rats, gerbils etc can make some lovely gifts for animal lovers!

I have done x stitch a few times but find that I can only handle small things!

Love making cards and make cards for all of my friends/family's birthdays, anniversaries etc

I assisted my two year old with some collage making today. Well, I say assisted, I tried to stop him sticking his whole craft box onto one sheet of paper!

I started a Forever Friends alphabet cross stitch when my sister was pregnant with her second child. I never got around to finsihing it although it was nearly done. He's 8 now ::)!

I've got a guinea pig cross stitch waiting to be started its a tort and white, I did do one when I lost my first dog it had a wonderful verse I stitched and his name under a pic of a dog so sweet i framed it ,

My mum has been making cards for years and they are excellent - so recently I have gotten into scrapbooking! REALLY enjoying it. Went over to USA last October and managed to get some cool scrapbooking stuff as well so was well chuffed!

Find it relaxes me after a stressful day! hehe :)

My mum started a latch hook rug that was going to go in my nursery. 19 years later I done a bit more. It's still not finished! I'm 37 now and in some ways I think it would be the end of an era if it ever did get finished ;D

It seems that loads of you love doing cross stitch. I have 4 packs of jewel effects threads for sale. If anyone is interested pm me. They really are very beautiful and great for those finishing touches.

There's lots of us that like doing crafts then! :) I decided to fit in as much cross stitch as i can when i have time because the project i'm doing at the minute is quite big and has a lot of backstitching on it, I HATE backstitch!!, it will be worth it in the end though. :) I have a latch hook rug to do somewhere, i've never done latchhook and would love to start but i've no idea where it is!

Gosh Mary i nearly forgot i need to pick up the hutch!! will try later when jason is home, if not is tomorrow ok?, i dont want it to be in your way or anything so let me know if today is more convenient, ta.

I've only been cross stitching for about 2 1/2 years, my neighbour got me started with little eeyore kit from a magazine ( i love eeyore!) and after that i did an All Our Yesterdays kit, it's the one with a girl and a dog with their backs to you and a sign saying no dogs allowed, it's kind of finished but i didn't get round to finishing the backstitch on it, i was too eager to start the cherub one for my mum!, now i'm doing one for the girls called Fairy Hill and i think its going to be a couple of years before i finish it! lol

I think Holly may of put weight on too,( well it has been christmas! :) i need to ring the vets on Monday and get her in for her booster because i had a reminder just before christmas so i'm sure Jackie will weigh her.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I also hate backstitch. But the picture always looks so much better with it so I just grit my teeth and swear under my breath ;D

I got a couple of those stitch a photo charts but there are so many colours in it, you're changing needles with every stitch. I got fed up with it in the end.

you not the only one who hates the back stitching Especially the TATTY TEDDY ones they really gets on my nerves

I am just doing kits now as i keep collecting threads and i don't use them

I've just finished a little pic of some peonies and the backstitching was in gold thread :o Ooh I turned the air blue on several occasions ;D That stuff is hard enough to work with as it is but that was taking the wee wee. Looks really nice though
