cinnamon is off to the vets soon, but i need to know if this is something i need to bring up, she does this popping sound every now and then, usually after eating- it lasts an hour or so before it stops, i want to think she just gets some hay stuck or something but I'm concerned regardless, i’ll include the link to a video of her doing it

she also made this hooting sound a few weeks ago, i was told then some pigs just have sniffly noses and make sounds like that commonly, and that its not a problem

her chest sounds fine, other than the popping noise, no laboured breathing, it sounds like it’s coming from her nose

here’s the video

My girls make that noise sometimes too. Buttercup often does it when she’s been snuffling in hay. However poppy would made this sound on and off along with a hooting sound. We initially went to the vets who did x rays (conscious) and put her on antibiotics because the noise was more regular than intermittent if that makes sense and the vet was worried. Further down the line I was still noticing it intermittently but fine other wiss in herself no problems with her breathing etc. But took her back. At one point the vet thought the heart sounded bad and told me she probably had heart disease but she wanted another vet to check as it was beating too fast to properly tell (so was mine after she said that😭) turned out there was no heart murmour or signs of heart disease but she ended up having two heart scans and both came back clear so we figure it’s just a noise she makes occasionally. I’m sure a health expert will be along shortly with better advice but thought I’d share my experience xx

Hi, my 🌈 piggie Heidi also did this occasionally. We took her to the vets and they said her chest was clear but did put her on a course of antibiotics incase it was the start of a URI.

She also began hooting now and again so we took her back to the vets and again all seemed OK. I think this noise can occur with irritation or if something is obstructing the airways such as hay. What bedding is she on?

I also know that heart piggies can make this sound aswell as the hooting noise, as it can be a sign of heart murmur etc. If you are concerned please see a vet.
