The sunny weather this weekend has got me thinking ahead to the summer when temperatures (may!) heat up even more. I was wondering, do Scratch & Newton ice pods need to have a cover (like you would wrap an ice pack in a tea towel or something when using it to put on a bump) so that the piggies aren't in direct contact with the cold surface, or does their fur serve this function? If they would benefit from a cover, would a cotton fabric be the best? I'm thinking not too thick and easy to wash and dry. Presumably fleece, whilst comfy, would be too hot in this situation.

Old plastic bottles filled with water in the freezer then shove them in a old pair of socks works for me.
