Ok so my 2 girlies live outdoors and although they have a hutch hugger, hutch snuggle, mountains of hay, domes, a carpet over the front at night and a snugglesafe I am still thinking of ways to keep them warmer.

I have thought about buying them a snuggle cup / sac but because Eliza is a relentless chewer and Eleanors toilet habbits aren't great, I know they wouldn't last long.

Anyway, I have some fleece (the kind with the paw prints on it) and was wondering if I could somehow line the inside of the domes with it? It wouldn't matter if the fleece got chewed as it is cheap enough to replace. Would this make the domes more insulated? I am just having trouble with how to attach the fleece. I thought about paper clips but then realised this would be a stupid idea because of a choking hazard. Then I thought about using clothes pegs? Of course, I would need what ever I use to be safe for the pigs. Or would I be best just to stuff the domes with the fleece?

Another idea I had was turning the dome upside down and making them a kind of bed by just laying the fleece inside?

Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated

i could be wrong but wouldn't blankets used in hutches outside hold in moisture from damp air?could be wrong but did see it on a tv program by the rspca who told a man not to use blankets in his dogs kennel has it held the moisture in and made the blanket damp therefore it was not good for the dog just a thought..:):)

I'm not sure, but I think there may be an issue around condensation in the 'damper' months outdoors. Would it be possible for your piggies to have little wooden houses inside their hutch, stuffed with hay. I have one of these in one of my cages. They would have the benefit of being thicker, so hopefully warmer and no condensation problems. x

cardboard is a great liner for hutches - keeps the heat in, and although is absorbs some of the damp it does so slowly - is free to replace and can go in the big blue bin :))

It's also very flexible - easy to manipulate
