Hello everyone! I’m a newbie here.

I found this rug/mat at a shop and was wondering if this could be used as a good bedding or an alternative for a fleece liner for my guinea pigs? It just says 100% polyester.

Thank you so much!

The problem is that without an absorbent layer chances are the urine may just sit on top.
Plus a good liner really needs to be able to withstand frequent machine washing, and that doesn't look like it would.
But it might work in a floor time pen.

Right. I didn’t even think of that.

What I’m currently doing is that rug as first layer, a towel, and a fleece.

Thanks guys!

Agree, may struggle to wash it frequently. I find that towels go pretty whiffy but if it works for you then it works. Under my fleece I use human-incontinence pads for, for example, children who wet the bed. I’ve had mine for about 7 years now and haven’t had to replace them yet and they are washed weekly. I was mine with white vinegar and a dash of hibiscrub. I think they were about £10-£15 for a two-pack and a two pack fits a 2x4 c&c cage.

How thick do you think the towels should be? Does it have to be a thick one in order for it to be super absorbent?
