Just a bit of a rant! Took piggy to vets as it's Friday afternoon and thought his eye looked a little sore....vet said he is fine but the eye is a little red so suggested Isathal drops. 5 minute consultation and drops and the bill is £52+...the drops alone were £17.55. Had a quick look online and they cost about £7...I appreciate vets cannot match online prices but I would be interested to compare to what other vets charge - anybody recall how much this same medication has cost them please? Thank you :)

When I go to the vets with my piggies for Isathal the cost of a Consultation + the drops is £55 so that seems about right.

Thanks @Betsy ...interesting to hear that. I have to say my jaw dropped when they told me how much it was as I had been in there under 5 mins! Just had a quick look around at alternative vets (as I have been thinking for some time about switching due to a couple of other things)......my current vet charges £35 for a consultation whereas another local one (that has been recommended) charges £21...with so many animals I think it would make sense for me to shop around a bit! :)

My vet charges £34 per consultation. There are cheaper vets around but I am quite happy with my vets and they see a lot of gps. There is one particular vet that loves all my piggies and she is very good with them.

My other reason for wanting to change is that I never seem to see the same vet - I must have taken the piggies to see at least 7 different people over the last couple of years as the staff keep changing - so there is no continuity. The one I'm considering swapping to mentions an interest in guinea pigs (owns them himself), so I'm inclined to give them a go! :)
