Hi,

I've been getting a few quotes locally for correx for the 4x2 C&C I'm hoping to build.

One place has quoted me £20 for 2m x 1m white board.
Another place has quoted me just under £7 for smaller sheets which I can choose a variety of colours.

I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and buy the one big board or if maybe getting the smaller boards would be an option and patching them together.

Does anyone have experiance or know if taping correx up together along a join would work well in a cage? I'd be using an equine bedding in the cage. What are you recommendations please?

Just to add, I'm in Northern Ireland so alot of the online companies charge alot more for delivery to here. {:|

Have you tried asking your local estate agents if they have any signs they do not need? These are made of correx and area much cheaper option if you can get hold of some.

Any estate agent signs I've seen here are all of a hard, flat plastic; not correx. Also, I'd rather have a plain base, rather than the lettering from their signs showing. ;) But still, a good idea.

When I lived in NI, I had a type of C & C cage.

Anyways as it was on a solid surface I used Vino underneath to protect the floor got a huge off cut from a carpet shop for £10, it was perfect for piggies. :) xx

Great cage. Lol, I have the same fleece as in your photo, only it has become a dog bed since I disliked using fleece for the guinea pigs. ;)

I use Allbed, a type of equine bedding which would get moved/kicked around quite a bit, so we need the solid sides to prevent it going over the floor. But thanks for the idea.

No one with any experiance of taping up correx pieces to form the base? What to use, wether or not it works?

Sorry, I forgot to answer. Use waterproof tape it's fiddly but it CAN be done :).

Ducktape do a waterproof invisible tape :). IT's not really invisible though! mallethead

Thanks for that! :) I'll look out for that tape in B&Q. We spotted big sheets of clear correx in there today, but it was 10mm thick which I felt was too much, plus nearly £30.

I think I might just go for the one big sheet if it's going to save me alot of hassle trying to stick things together properly.

I'm a big fan of the easy option! :))

I vaguely remember reading a post saying that the sheets were only £5 in Travis Perkins. Do you have TP in NI? I think the poster said they were 2mm thick.

Yes, Travis Perkins sells 8ft x 4ft sheets 2mm thick for about £5. :) Even if there isn't one in NI it might be worth checking with local builders merchants- apparently builders use it to protect new flooring while they're fitting out.

Ah ha! It was you, flips, the mysterious poster.

No TP here, but I'm going to go look up builders merchants now on yell.com. :) Thanks for the tip.
