Correx alternative?

I built a great C+C cage, and my lil guys love it. At the moment I have lino on the bottom, then towel and a fleece top. But its a nightmare to clean out! I end up with hay and poops all over the place (which is why my hoover is broken :()

I know correx is the best bet, but I need a solution whilst trying to get the correx sorted!

Can anyone think of anything, that can fill the bottom and just be lifted out?

this is going to sound really stupid, but i have just lino on the bottom and instead of the hoover i use a dustpan and brush to get most of the hay and poop up then just hoover the last little bits.
 
No it doesnt sound silly at all! That is exactly what I was going to do, but then when reading the forum I noticed most people had soft flooring - I thought maybe the lino would be cold for them? And where would the pee go!?

Would be so much easier to sweep up all the mess :) x
 
i use newspaper and that absobs the pee then just roll it up throw it out, sweep, clean the lino and put in clean newspaper :) the only thing that doesnt stay in the cage is the poops they kick out :)
 
thats ok sometimes the most obvious anwers are right in front of us lol :)

it is much easier :) when they dont try to come back in to help you! x
