Did anyone watch the Coronation today? I had it on in the background but Jessica lost interest very quickly despite bringing a flag home from nursery to wave. She was happy to have it on as long as she could watch Blippi on her tablet at the same time 🤣

My husband wasn't fussed but I was explaining that even those who were alive for Queen Elizabeth's coronation are unlikely to have watched it as TVs were still not common household items, definitely not affordable for everyone and only in black and white.

I do feel for Charles though, he looked so tired. It's such a long process and everything (especially those crowns) look so heavy! Having lost a parent I wasn't fit to go to work for over a month after and that was me in my early 30's. Let alone taking up some a big baton, having to go through all this pomp and ceremony while in your 70s (when most people in the country would be retired).

I watched it with my 15 year old. My 11 year old kept popping in the room to see bits of it.

We’re visiting my in laws and had planned for a nice relaxing day watching it with a glass of Pimms. That was until my sister in law turned unannounced up with my niece and nephew and her partner so we’ve missed most of it over the screaming and shouting 😞 My mother in law is doing a garden party tomorrow with afternoon tea but that’s going to be another noisy day as my sister in law and the children will be here again

i have watched bits of it.Prince Louis is rather mischievous !he was saying something in the carriage....so funny !

Recorded it this morning and watched this afternoon.
It was very moving but I did feel for the King - such a long ceremony and those robes aren’t lightweight, never mind the crown.

I bet he and Camilla are looking forward to everyone going home so they just put their feet up.

I agree. Charles did look tired at times from the bits I saw. I bet they can’t wait to put their feet up and have a nice cup of tea or even better, a nice cold glass of fizz to toast his special day

Watch the highlights again tonight or next week on i-player. It is worth it. ;)

Hub and I watched it together.

What a fascinating mix of the very old with the modern and some strong personal touches. The music was truly sublime and so great to see so many women and people from different backgrounds and faiths involved in the ceremony.

PS: Hub did actually watch the Queen's coronation on the newly bought tv with the room crammed with family and nieghbours but since he was just about 2 years old and managed to pull the grandfather's clock down hitting his head with him gushing blood all over his white Sunday dress right in the middle of it has made for a good family story but no real memories... In terms of distractions by children, this was definitely one! :D
Thankfully, no clocks being pulled down today.

I watched bits of it, I saw when the crown was placed on his head, the guards giving the cheers and the balcony and fly past.
What ever your thoughts on the monarchy it's an amazing sight to see.
We too joked that maybe they are now in their PJ's, feet up with a cuppa watching the highlights!

I am sure that they are looking forward to a quiet evening of rest. The run up to the coronation must have been manic!
And those massive crowns and weighty garments and trains must be so heavy to lug around!
