The girls are currently in a cage/c and c arrangement which is great for them but not so practical for me. The constant mess is getting me down, finding random poos about the place is not fun and the washing of the sheets I am using is also proving problematic with other members of the household!

So I was looking for a cage for three (as Henry has yet to have his op, am doing more research re vets but will eventually hopefully live with the girls)

so what about this one?

thank you

Hi,

I had this cage but I didn't get on with it, but it is a nice cage. I found the ramp to steep so ended up seperating the levels, but the ramp could be modified though:)

The top part was fine to clean out, but the bottom part was really hard to reach the back to clean it out as the opening is too small.

It is a massive cage and fits great into a corner and looks nice in a front room:)

:)) I like these personally and they are spacious having two levels.
Poo's get everywhere :)), we have C & C for our piggies but my OH built a small surround to stop them falling onto the floor (the poo's, not the piggies :{)
Could you change your bedding if the washing is too much - I know exactly what you mean though. I do 3 loads of washing and drying in one clean out twice a week, more than I do for the family :(|)

I feel bad and definitely don't want them to have smaller cage again but honestly I am too much of a neat freak to have C and C and be constantly clearing up. plus having spent a great deal of time in my room recently they don't exactly move much!

DO you think it is bigger enough for 3? or even maybe if the trio doesn't work out 4? as it is such a funny shape I can't work it out, any other experiences good and bad would be welcome.

thank you again

Apologies for bumping my own thread but does anyone else have any opinions on this as a choice of cage?

This was the second cage we bought, 4 ft x 2ft for our first two piggies. The ramp is steep so placed a wooden house underneath. They hated upstairs though rolleyes Decided to expand the piggy clan so separated the cages so had what appeared as an 8ft long cage in the room which was fine until I heard of c&c.
Really nice cages though and they worked with us for a while - we keep them in storage now for emergency use and thought about buying another two sets for our caravan and joining them up with chubing but OH wants to design something himself :{ As with all cages, by the time you accessorise, I find there's not much running space so unless you have a floorpen for daily exercise, find the piggies just got too big for them so only used them for bedtime.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but it's an idea...
We can't find C&C materials so I improvised with rose trellises... long story but basically there's mesh around and so the poos don't fall out. It's really cheap and you can cut it easily to the exact shape and secure with cable ties. You can get it at any gardening/home kind of shop. It should solve your problem with poos and the pigs won't have space cuts, plus you save a load of money. Here's a pic:
(sorry about the awful lighting)

Or have you considered just making the sides higher on your c+c? Piggiepigpigs on youtube uses the clear correx from B&Q and her sides are as high as the grids.

I have that cage and will sell it to you if you want. We have just build bespoke cage so it's doing nothing.

We modified the ramp and put correx round it to make it safe, I had 3 pigs in it and they were very happy.

I don't have the houses any more.

Message me if you are interested in buying it from me for a much cheaper price than £189

wow, that would be very cool

mind you you are in Cardiff!

thank you for the offer will have a think about it

I am still feeling indecisive.

I have 140 cage in my shed that just will not fit in my tiny house. the cage they are in with a c and c attachment is this one

http://www.petcentreonline.co.uk/ecommerce/Scripts/prodView~idproduct~483.htm

which is too small alone (hence the C and C extension) but I can't really "get to them" if you see what I mean. When I did have the 100 on its own it was easy to pick them up and put them in the run or have a cuddle. Now its a bit of chase and neither of us like it especially.

Just bear with me whilst I do a pros and cons list of the corner cage.

Pros

  • neat and tidy
  • fits in room
  • roof top access(could put the girls in the top at first till henry is neutered and have good access to them)henry is very friendly so would be fine in the bottom half - would be more room for him recovery....
  • could keep my desk
  • would still have access to my window and regain access to book shelf.
  • way more room then the rabbit 100 and roughly the same room as now
  • also more opportunites for toys, hang hammocks and kebab veg things.

Cons
  • Expense. 119 with free delivery
  • probably really huge. ie might not look as good as I think? 141cm across? need to figure out if it fits.....
  • could the girls manage the ramp?(they did have ramps in a previous set up and I would make it much less steep then the picture)
  • once it was all opened up would they just hide down stairs ?and so not easy to get to? although the doors look fairly big.
  • ultimately the c and c set up is much more natural this is very artificial?

hmmmmmm opinions?

I have the corner cage for my lone boar and he loves it, though in my opinion it's not really suitable for more than 2. Especially when you put houses, tunnels etc in it, having 4 piggies and accessories will really eat up floor space giving them less room to run around in. Here's what mine looks like:

i think the cage is lovely, it'll save space at least, i got so sick of sawdust being kicked everywhere that i bought fleece cage liners from cosy cavies, she made them to measure and i'll never go back no, so maybe that's something to think about? http://www.cosycavies.co.uk/ x

Hello all,
I'm glad i've found this thread as we've been thinking of getting this cage too, just wondering if anyone can tell me the measurements across the front - the long bit of the triangle if you see what i mean!

I think its 141cm?

That was what it said on the Zooplus link - see one of my earlier posts.

I have decided against the idea since it would block access to my window.

Long term I am not sure what I am going to do. The girls are in the 120 which is fine for them but not big enough for the 3 of them.

Yesterday I went to a pet shop to look for a stand for the 120 so at least the girls wont be on the floor(seems to make them v anxious) Instead I found a bunch of guinea pigs in with rabbits (no real reason for it) and this one poor little boy had clearly been in a fight with something had bite marks on his faces and his ears although healed were bitten. He looked such a scruff. I wish I had said something and will contact the RSPCA but there wasn't any one to ask and I was on the verge of tears so not in the mood for a fight.

I would have taken him home in a heartbeat but barely have the room for my three. I really need my house to be like the Tardis.

thanks for you input

xx
