I got my boys one of the touch activating cooling pads last year. I have it wrapped inside a pillow case so that it's not tempting them to chew on it. I had it at the other side of their cage as a cool area but they don't go there they just lay looking warm out side their bed so tonight I've replaced a puppy pad with it. So it's now where Harold would normally lay about. Can they catch a chill from these things? It's not cold just cool like when you turn a pillow over for the cool side.
Also am I being mean changing his favourite spot?

No they can't get a chill from them.
And no you aren't being mean.

Mine avoid any place I put cooling pads slate or fleece wrapped ice packs is this a normal Guinean pig thing?

Even I was hot that day tho!

Is it ok to spray them with water - e.g in the heatwave

No, Guinea pigs can get chilled very easily, which will most probably lead to a uri.

I left it there over night and it was drenched in wee so I've taken it out to wash and ive put the puppy pad back in I don't think he relaxed on it so I will put it back in it's original place when it's clean. They do have a fan and a tile and frozen water bottles so I'm trying my best to keep them cool.

Try freezing some water in plastic bottles and wrap them up in a towel.

U can put a few around the cage and if they lay next to it. Will keep them cool

Mine are indoor piggies so they are in an air conditioned house. However, because they have fur coat on, I give them very cold cucumber straight from the refrigerator to help them cool down. I figured cucumber is best compared to other fruits that are high in sugar, so they get this and a small baby carrot for keeping cool.
I also give them cold water.

HI. Try to get air con unit but don't have it to close to the cage, you might even want to close the Blinds ect... In the hottest part of the day.

You do have to be careful not to freeze their tummy as this can cause an upset tummy.
