I thought I would share with you the construction of the kennel for two sets of Guinea Pigs.

The kennel will have four doors, two windows and two floors and will be insulated and vented for ventilation.

Below is a joist floor and the roof will be the same as it should be.

And here is the panels awaiting the doors and roof.

Will the kennel stay open like this or are you adding more walls?

OP said that it's awaiting the doors and roof. It's a two level hutch (one set of guineas per level) and it'll have four doors (two at the front and two and the back) with perspex windows in and then vents added to allow airflow.

It's looking good so far. :)

This photo shows the start of the joist roof if anyone is interested.

Another update for you as the roof is nearly done and the floor is in. I still need to create four doors, attach the felt and cut holes for the vents and sort out the insulation and lining.

Looks good so far :-)
Cheers, i don't do it for myself its, i do it for the pets that end up living there.

If i am posting to many updates i can stop and just show the end why done but thought people may like to see how it's made as that is the important part.

Do you think it needs windows that can open?

Do you think it needs windows that can open?

As I said in your original thread I think it would be good if it was possible to have heavy gauge mesh windows with a way to fix perspex over them (maybe it could be slid into grooves or similar?) that way they could have the benefit of extra ventilation when it's hot and be insulated and draught free otherwise. I know you're going to put a lot of vents in but I'd still be concerned about the perspex creating a greenhouse effect in hot weather. I also wouldn't want windows that open to just leave a gap because that creates a weakness for potential predators.

I was going to create it with opening windows but now i feel the best is what you say, add mesh and create some shutters made out of perspex. Will have to see what is the best way to attach these shutters.

This is what i have come up with and it has 16G Welded Mesh attached.
Silly me thought i had hinges but i don't so have to order some in which is why the doors are not attached yet.

Wow, its looking great, cant wait to see it when it is occupied! x

Its looking amazing, so solid and so well thought out.
Hermes- is the hutch for your pigs?

I don't believe my customer is a member but i could be wrong.
Nearly done now i just need to place 4 pieces of timber around the roof and attach the insulation with ply lining.

Here is an update:
