Hi,

Both my pigs have only really rumble-strutted when they have been in season. Its very obvious because every couple of weeks one of them will start rumbling all the time and trying to mount the other etc, then after a day or two it stops.

Well for the last 3-4weeks one of my girls, Moe, has been rumbling everyday at random times, even when on our laps during cuddles!
Because I am so used to them only doing it for those couple of days every few weeks, this seems very odd to me.
Moe is not the dominant pig at all, but since the constant rumbling has stated she seems to be standing her ground more and giving as good as she gets if you know what I mean.
She used to go scampering away from Gloria when Gloria was being all dominant, but now she kinda just stand up to her and they both ending up looking at each other not knowing what to do!

Theres no aggresion between them, so I am not worried about that but I am curious if anyone else's pigs have ever had such a change in personality/behaviour?

Thanks

Moe has obviously gained in confidence and is making it clear that she feels she deserves more respect now. That is what the (dominance) rumbling is all about.

I have and I have had this behaviour, both when I had just a couple of sows and now that I have a group.

I imagine you're right :) Its so cute watching her try to be all bossy when she i snormally so quiet and timid!
There has never been so much bum wiggling in the cage!

I think they are becoming close too. When I go down in the morning they are always sat right next to each other in the hay loft, just snoozing away.

The dynamic between the two of them must be changing slightly.

Its nice to see Moe not being picked on as much.
