Hi! :)
My piggies have a complex enclosure, but essentially, they have a Ferplast habitat that measures around 4 feet x 2 feet, in addition to free roam of my room. The Ferplast enclosure acts as a "home base", and is open 24/7. The guinea pigs have to jump about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the fleece, into the Ferplast section of my room. I was always concerned about the constant jumping, so I tried various ladders. The piggies refused to use any of the ladders (I tried about 4 different options).
So, I simply put extra padding beneath their already padded fleece to soften the landing.
They jump in and out with ease, I am just concerned about how the jumping may affect them later in life.
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you! :)

Hi- 2" is a very small height so I would not worry especially if they are happily hopping in and out. They can popcorn higher than that 😊

Sounds like they have plenty of space to roam around which is lovely.

When my girls run around the bedroom, Lola often jumps onto their pee pads which are stacked in their room for future use and these are often about 6 inches high and she has no trouble doing this and seems to enjoy checking it out. Bindy however chooses not to go there but she's a bit older. I personally think that if they want to do it then it is probably good exercise for them.
