Hi all,
Next in a series of seemingly never ending vet visits…. Eddie has conjunctivitis in one eye and has been prescribed Isathal drops. We are on day two of those and his eye still looks horrendous and is producing a lot of gunk which the vet said to keep wiping away. Does anyone have any advice for doing this? She said to use salt water but I’m not sure what ratio of salt to use, and was wondering if saline solution for contact lenses would be suitable? I feel so bad for Eddie and don’t want to use the wrong thing or make it worse.

Thank you 💖

I’d just use homemade saline. The ‘recipe’ is one teaspoon of salt to 250ml of boiled water (cooled before use obviously).

Hope he feels better soon

My Enoch used to suffer from conjunctivitis regular. I used to wipe any gunk away with home made saline solution using the ratios @Piggies&buns has mentioned above. We used to be prescribed chlorophenicol drops that we had to put in his eyes several times a day so if the isathal drops doesn’t clear it, ask your vet for chlorophenicol

Thank you, hopefully the drops work but I will keep that in mind if not
