Would this need to be removing? Or can this be treated by eyedrops? We'll take Rocky to the vet when it opens. Our local vets is only open at certain times. Just want to know if cases like this needs an operation or can be easily treated. This appeared overnight but he has been prescribed lasy year of eyedrops becaused of inflamed eyes. I think it just progressed now.

Rocky's eye has always been like this since Nov last year and hasn't gone worse until today. I had a cuddle with him last night before going to bed and it was still the same until I saw him this morning. He has an appointment to our local vets at 3:15pm later.

It does look like conjunctivitis which hopefully a course of eye drops will clear but your vet will be able to guide you better.

my late Enoch used to suffer with it although not quite as badly as that and eye drops was always prescribed x

Hopefully, a course of eye drops would be fine. 🤞 He still has the eye drops prescribed to him in the past but it's been a year since he needed that.

As for Rocky's well being, he's still stuffing his face with hay and cucumber since this morning! He's not bothered with the eye at all.

Don’t use those eye drops as they may be out of date now.

It’s good he’s still acting normal

Just been to the vets. Rocky was prescribed eye drops and Metacam for a week. Vet said the mass isn't connected to the 3rd eyelid (?) but the surrounding area of the eye inside is a bit inflamed. So she said hopefully, the eyedrops is enough treatment. If the inflamation or the mass doesn't go down during the course of the treatment, next thing to do would be to get a sample of it for biopsy.

Vet said Rocky was well behaved when he was inside and she was inspecting his eyes. And that he's a big chunky boy and so squishy. 😁😊

Rocky has some tiny traces of blood around his eye (outside). A part of that mass might have burst or something. It isn't bothering him though and he's still acting normal. It might have happened after we returned from the vet and Vegas started licking it or was trying to lick it. I had to shoo her away from Rocky (Sierra was trying to lick his mouth as well probably because she can smell the Metacam!). Should I clean it or just leave it like that? I'll put on eye drops on it later before bed time.

Poor Rocky.
Hope his eye gets better soon.
He’s just so handsome
Thank you! I'm just glad that he's been eating loads of hay nonstop (well in between naps 🤣) despite his eye problem. He keeps on hiding from me since we got back from the vets this afternoon coz I've been looking at his eye a few times to make sure it's not getting worse.

You have competition with Rocky @alpacasqueak 😁

Aw, hope Rocky’s eye gets better very soon x
Thank you!

I was thinking beforehand that we were lucky we never had to bring any guinea pigs to the vets since the pandemic started. Last time we were at the vets was on Feb before we went on holiday and we had to take Rocky to Cat & Rabbit to see Kim for a checkup about his long term cheilitis. And then this happened. Typical. 🤦‍♀️

Poor lad, hope it heals up well. His eye does look a bit droopy?
His eye is getting a bit better. When I gave him his meds this morning, it's well clean and he's "winking" a lot less. It's just annoying seeing Vegas trying to lick it. 🤦‍♀️

But he is very well himself and is still eating loads. 👍😁

Noooo, he’s my handsome boy!:wub:
Sorry @anyar.dris I’ve not been on much this week so totally missed my(!) gorgeous man’s poorly eye, so glad he’s looking better and hasn’t stopped munching! ❤ x
He's been such a good boy taking his meds. Loves the Metacam. 😂😂

Here he is today. Last day of meds tomorrow and he's done. I think his eye is back to normal now.
